the French fashion legend, Yves Saint Laurent’s (1936-2008) somber life story; his long standing relationship with businessman/life partner, Pierre Berge, their extensive art collection, love for Marrakech, Morocco, and, of course, YSL’s career in Fashion spanning over 7 decades, will be on display over the course of this French Director, Pierre Thoretton’s, 100 minute long documentary, “L’amour fou”/”Crazy Love” at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival. “L’amour fou”/”Crazy Love” entitles you to a backstage pass to learn about the high’s and low’s of elite culture experienced by the dedicated, poignant designer, known for making tuxedo and bolero jackets, Cossack Costumes, and see through blouses popular on women. Access entrance into interviews, parties, homelife, couture and ready to wear fashion shows, while observing how a successful artist’s mind is so often a combat zone for mental illness. “L’amour fou”, should not be compared to the still standing, Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani documentary, “The Last Emperor”.
A Sundance Selects Release.
