At the NYC premiere of Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut of “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” Christiane Amanpour stated, “The Bosnian War (April 1992- December 1995), was our generations Vietnam. Our government turned away and made excuses as to why they could not intervene. There is no way to sugar coat what happened in Bosnia. What is so remarkable is how they kept their human dignity and refused to surrender.  Journalists tried to tell the story, and the Clinton administration deployed Richard Holbrooke, and no one has been shooting at one another for the last 16 years.  One good thing did come from the war, never again can people rape with impunity. It is now a crime.  The Bosnian War was a searing and wrenching time, but it is important.”
